The Mn Heartland Club, has events, (Fun trials) in the Spring after the regular Field Trial season, which are designed to give newcomers a feel for what a AKC Licensed Field Trial is all about.
- Here is where you learn the very important oral traditions about Field Trialing in a competitive, yet fun, learning environment.
- The Heartland club allows ESS and ECS to compete side by side.
- Learning how to better handle your dog.
- Meeting people involved in "Field Trialing", to learn from and to possibly establish relationships with, one which could change your lifestyle.
- This, could be where one learns to 'gun' with appropriate instruction and a 'mentor' at your side. (Hinge guns only, SxS or O/U)
- Learn to carry the 'basket' which seems like a 'no brainier' which actually carries a great deal of responsibility.
- Judging the Fun Trial stakes, with an experienced Judge.
There is competition ! This is not a 'pass or fail' this still is 'the best dog of the day'. However, in a Field Trial, you pay your $80.00 +/-, and may be out in one cast. At a Fun Trial, if you commit a mortal sin, you may still get to go on, and learn! Cost is 10.00 to 20.00 per stake.

- Puppy: Any dog, any handler, dog under 2 years old, Steady or un-steady
- Derby: Any dog, any handler, dog under 2 years old, Steady

If you have ever thought about what it would be like at a AKC Licensed Field Trial, go to a 'Fun Trial' and get a taste of what it is all about.
Warning:
- You may find competitive events with you and your dog
are not your cup of tea.
- You may find this compulsive, and it may effect serious life style changes.

The Heartland Club is well known for a good trial and for being good hosts. We will need your help! We would appreciate at least one days attendance from everyone to make sure there are enough hands to assist the "official" workers. There are always things to do, like carrying the bird basket, helping take care of the game birds, assisting our guests, and supporting our competing members and guests. We'll appreciate your help
